Varvara Harmon, internationally acclaimed still life Artist is a
highlight to Harvest Gold Gallery of Center Lovell, Maine. Harmon was born and
raised in Volzshk, Russia, where she began her studies as an artist at the
Volzshk Art School, graduating with a Diploma in Art Studies. Shortly after
graduation she turned her attention to earth sciences, and studied at Moscow
Geological Exploration Academy, where at she earned a Degree in Geological
Studies.
While working as a geologist and having the opportunity to see some of
Russia’s most spectacular wildlife, she returned to painting landscapes, and
participated in many regional art exhibitions. She also had the honor of being
the first artist to ever put on a solo exhibition at the Museum of V. E. Lenin
in the city of Kazan, Russia.
In 2001 Varvara immigrated to the United States, to Maine. In Maine she
found new inspiration for her landscapes and still life’s. “New England,
especially Maine, is a place whose lands, inland waters, coast and people have
inspired many of her recent paintings.”
The Majority of Harmon’s works are done in oil, however she also works
with acrylic, watercolors, and pencil. Although landscapes are her favorite
subject, she also does still life paintings, portraits, and accepts commissioned
work.
Since beginning her career back in Volzshk, Varvara has been accepted
into more than 6 memberships; International Guild of Realism, Oil Painters of
America, Landscape Artists International, Maine Women in the Art, Union of
Maine Visual Arts, Paint America, Fine Arts America. These memberships define
her as one of the finest Artists of our time.
Varvara has won over 15 awards for her work, starting in 2002, and has
been awarded an estimated three awards yearly.
It is an honor and a pleasure to show her work in Harvest Gold Gallery,
especially her Roses on Silk painting, “This painting has been chosen as the
finalist in the American Artist magazine’s Cover Competition 2009 and published
in June issue of American Artist Magazine also it was finalist for "Salon
International 2009", a Juried Exhibition of the International Museum of
Contemporary Masters of Fine Art.”
