ICE OUT BLOG

ICE IS OUT!
After long winter months waiting for some sunshine to crack the ice on the lake, April is here and ice is gone! We're all thrilled at Harvest Gold because this means that soon we can walk down to the waterfront and take an afternoon swim.
We're actually so excited we made some rings about it!

The mountain range mocks our beautiful White Mountains and the waves represent the white caps on a windy day out on Kezar Lake.
We are so blessed in Lovell to be graced with a view like this one!

Stop by Harvest Gold Gallery to see our rings, jewelry, paintings, glassworks and our view!!

One of Our Favorite Retirees, Jean Swan Gordon, Final Days at Our Gallery

Jean Swan Gordon
About twenty five years ago Jean Swan Gordon, an accomplished painter of landscapes, interiors and figures in oils and pastels started something new. A passionate gardener, she began to paint portraits of bouquets of garden flowers and wild flowers in ink and watercolor. Gordon states, “I had become fascinated by line, and flowers were a natural subject. I could explore the intricacies and the variety of line and color and, at the same time, celebrate my love of gardening and nature.” Mrs. Gordon uses only stark white paper as the background of her bouquets, allowing the personality of the flowers and vessels to radiate and imply season, quality of light and emotion. She only paints bouquets in front of her, and since she has been a full time New England resident, her paintings have taken on an even stronger seasonal feeling. They are casual bouquets, not formal arrangements. The same flowers and vases appear again and again but like a repertory company of actors, in each painting they play a different role.
We have had Jean's paintings in the gallery for many years, and have been honored to have had that privilege of her water color garden bouquets gracing our walls . We have been grateful for being able to share her art with numerous others. The last three pieces will be leaving our gallery shortly and will certainly be missed! Thank you for letting us be part of such a delightful experience in loving your work and you!

Think Spring!

Our Latest Wave Wedding Band
Finally, a warm breeze swirls around the gallery, the fall leaves blow away from the tender crocus and green daffodil shoots, snow piles slowly melt away, even a passing convertible goes by with the top down, and our spirits lift. Finally, Spring is here for real! Bill put out a vibrant new "OPEN" sign, Lynda hung a fish wind sock to fill a corner of the house with color. The crocus are blooming. I think the allusive "Spring" is finally here to stay. So, with fresh beginnings, we have some new pieces that we want to share with you from the work shop. We look forward to another amazing season and hope we will see all of you soon!

This year, we will be frequenting several wedding themed arts and crafts shows throughout Maine bringing our enthusiasm for love and weddings and equality to you in our all-American crafted and hand-made pieces. The next show that we will be part of, The Way Weddings Should Be, will be this Sunday in Portland, Maine at the Holiday Inn by the Bay. Please come and see us there!
