Have you ever been to a Moose Lottery?

We are excited to be a part of the 2015 Moose Lottery in Bethel,  Maine! We will be joining lots of other vendors on Saturday June 13th from 9-5 at the Bethel Inn Conference Center.

We love Moose here at Harvest Gold Gallery. We haven't had any over to visit yet this year, but we have seen the tracks down by the lake and we did spot one on the bridge by the Marina a few months ago.  Here is a look at a few of our favorite Moose items from the gallery!

I personally have never been to a moose lottery, so I was a bit curious about the history of this event. Moose hunting was banned in Maine from 1935 until 1980 in an effort to restore the population.  There were 1,000 permits issued for the first lottery in 1980, and that number has now increased to 2,815. In 2011 it was determined that anyone who received a permit would have to wait three years before being eligible for another one. Residents pay $15, and have only one chance to receive a permit. Nonresidents are able to purchase 10 chances, but only 10% of the total permits are available to nonresidents. In 2014 the moose population was estimated at between 70,000 and 80,000. Hunters last year averaged a 65% success rate. This moose business is serious stuff, and I'm very excited to be a part of it with the gallery next weekend. Come say hi, and see what all the fuss is about!

Nathan Macomber Blown Glass

Nathan Macomber first blew glass at Mass College of Art in 1995. His education in glass continues and includes classes at the Corning Museum of Glass, The Penland School of Arts and Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and a self designed B.A. in glass from Prescott College which he received in 1999.

Nathan has not only taken numerous classes and workshops, he has also taught dozens of individuals in private lessons, as a co-instructor for Prescott College, and has served as a T.A. and instructor for The Corning Museum of Glass and Snowfarm- New England Craft.

Nathan spent the first seven years of his career working in Prescott, Arizona, where he helped build and manage a glass blowing studio.

In the Spring of 2002, he bought his family's old farm in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There, he has set up his own private studio where he can be found almost everyday blowing glass, metal working, teaching, or maintaining the hundred year old farm which has been in his family since 1949.
Nathans line of Blown Glasses have been running out of the shop and currently we only have 3 of these wonderful glasses left! But don't worry, we have more on the way, plus a wide variety of nathans glass spiders, bowls, and outdoor and indoor art ! Here at Harvest Gold Galler in Lovell, we invite you to visit and view the selection of Nathans work we have in the Gallery along with many other local artists.

The View in Center Lovell

People ask us all the time, "Do you ever get tired of the view?"  Bill's new sterling silver cuff frames Kezar Lake nicely, don't you think?
We thought we would just share a few beautiful moments we have witnessed this season here in Center Lovell on Kezar Lake overlooking the White Mountains of western Maine and New Hampshire.
The Mountain ring in 14k white gold and the White Mountains, could you ask for a better background?

The mountains in this sculpture carved out of a moose antler by artist Sherri Medley, mirror the horizon.
Live edge wooden picture frames and bowls, made in America, of course everything we carry is made in America,  and the skyline make a natural combo.

Early morning mist and the pink sky,
Add the full moon and some sparkly white snow,
And a new design is born!

Pastel colors with an early season dusting of the white stuff make you feel the frost in the air.

Bill's new Krinkle cuff in white gold is available in yellow gold and sterling silver too.

We always are checking out the view and will keep you posted on as many beautiful moments as we can.  Thanks for a great year here at Harvest Gold Gallery.
